What's in it for the player?

They never discussed any compensation or rewards for the player.
Not even a health care plan

Any thoughts?

If the other Players are the same, then they're doing it because they want to do something good.

Or, we could guess that they are thrill junkies/have nothing to lose and do it for fun.

We could also guess that there they are compensated quite well: It would suck if the Player couldn't find someone to work his shift at McDonald's when a bet was in play. ;)

He get's to stay alive.

Go back to beginning of the pilot where Wesley Snipes is standing over the corpse of the LAST Player.

No that guy was more likely killed during a game. Doing good doesn't seem like an incentive either, as it's mentioned that Kane is the only one doing it to protect innocent people. So my guess is money.

Yeah I used to love dying, but that speech really turned me around.

My opinion is he will have resources from the game(Cassandra)to catch Ginny's killer.

Grands...Glad to see you come and glad to see you go

"No that guy was more likely killed during a game."

Well duh, yeah because he was the previous player. He LOST both the game and his life.

Which is why, when Alex asked at the end of the pilot episode "what happened to the last player", Johnson and Cassandra didn't answer him.

I really doubt there are any retirees in this racket. The prize is staying alive.

Well when he lost the first round with his former war buddy, it's not like they automatically had Kane killed off.

"first round"

Why would they, it's the FIRST round? Lots of games have multiple rounds, innings and periods.

The stakes for the players are their lives. That's the whole premise of the show. The 1% are betting on other people's lives.

Whatever, I've made my point, either you get it or you don't.
