Monster slowed up

I'm with all of those that was looking for the three blind mice to get killed ASAP. But you know how movies go.

Anyone notice how the monster slowed up and stalked the sisters when it pretty efficiently killed everyone else? It was like the monster was trying to get some good screen time.
