Island inhabitants knew the consequences of staying

Yeah.
That did not make any sense at all.

Everybody there KNEW that this "Hollow" spirit would come once every 100 years or so, and still, they all preferred to ignore the previous slaughters and live their merry lives at the island. Heck, even that youtuber knew of the story and still took the ferry.

Weird plot.

That part made sense to me. Last time this happened was a hundred years ago -- that's four, five generations for many families. News would have reported it as deaths due to storm.

They thought it was just a legend.

"But... what about the relevant conundrum?"
