Do you think they will have flashbacks of Christian as a boy?
In a way I think they might to an extent but also it might be too hard for audiences'to witness so they may leave it out. What do you think?

shareI hope they do include them because it really shines a light into how rough Christian's early years were. I remember reading the beginning of Darker when he is having a nightmare and I couldn't imagine that poor little boy going through that. It kind of soften's his character.
"One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad"
I don't think I could watch...The Room just about did me in...just can't take child abuse, even make believe.
shareJust to clarify, I just want to see Christian as a small boy with his mother passed out or something and the sound of screaming. I don't want to actually see the abuse he endured at the hands of his mother's pimp. I don't think I could take that either. But I think a short flashback of a scared boy hiding would suffice for me...

Agreed...I'd luv to see just a flashback of him w/his mother. Doesn't have to be anything to graphic.
And as posted, definitely it changed my perspective of Christian, considering all he went thru in his childhood. Brings to mind that saying "never judge a book by it's cover". A person's behaviours/personality can seriously be damaged by drastic things that happened in their past....
And every single day there is one or more stories in the National news of some child being abused or murdered...so sad..
sharePerhaps I'd ask the question a different way?
For movie goers who never have and never will read the books, don't they have to show something in a flashback?
Otherwise, it might take more time than necessary in the precious film minutes to convey Christian's terrible start in life.
Nobody has to SHOW it happening. But deft filming and writing could convey it very well.
After all, he bears the physical scars, which we've already seen. So explaining those in a flashback that isn't graphic at all might be necessary to the film? No?
