One thing about the first film was Jamie's attitude. He sometimes sounded very judgmental and shame-y towards the community he was trying to represent. He is getting more press/representation because of the franchise. He even said, "it's opened door for him" because of how much money it made.
I'm not really a fan of the franchise but this guy is getting paid the big bucks and he could at least suck it up. He knew going into the movies would be a huge deal.
Richard madden who played Robb Stark constantly gets asked about the RedWeddimg episode even though it was about three years ago, Aaron Taylor-Johnson gets asked what inspired his character in Nocturnal Animals and he talks about the psychopaths he studied, women in every interview get asked about their weight and diet.
I bet Dakota Johnson is tried of being ask about nudity but she gives positive answers.
In my opinion, Jamie came off sulky and rude in his interviews. He's going to be asked about it for the rest of career most likely so he could at least put some effort into it because fans are excited about it.
This isn't anything new. It sucks that actors have to put up with it
They have a better idea what to expect this time..Jamie said it was so much easier filming the two movies...had more time, and felt more at ease with each other..

Don't mean anything!
I guess it's inevitable that you become more comfortable. You still fight against some things. The film series itself, there's nothing really scary about it. I like the people I work with. I generally have very few disagreements about the script, especially on "New Moon." It just seemed so relaxed and easy. I've been on three different sets since January 14. I got like three days off. And I'm going to be on set all next year and I don't know what that really is like. I still feel like I'm pretty much exactly the same. Which I guess maybe isn't a good thing!

And we know how those films turned out!

First of all, I don't think Jamie is being rude in his interviews. He's just not as comfortable talking about the sexuality of the films as Dakota. When they did their first video interview together, she basically blurted out "Jamie has a fluffer" and when the interviewer asked her what that was it got very awkward. They wasn't use to it and I think Jamie tries to be more cautious. Especially with him having two daughters that might find these video interviews.
As for Twilight, I'm not sure what you mean Mya when you say "And we know how those films turned out! Personally I think they got better after the first one.
And for Jamie to take the role for fame and money, I don't think that's the case either. He has said that he lives out in the middle of nowhere away so he wouldn't have to deal with fame. As far as money goes, it's not really fair to single Jamie out because he wasn't the only person who auditioned and there were probably other actors who were interested in the part just for the money. Jamie was different because he had a baby on the way and maybe he wanted to try and get a secure role so he could make sure his family was set.

He has no problem talking about and defending a sadstic serial killer in interviews, talking about sex shouldn't be such a taboo!

Yeah, that's a bit off. He has an easier time talking about highly sexualized murders, but gets flustered talking about consensual sex? And then he laughs about his "method acting" preparation for The Fall when he followed a woman without her knowledge or permission. And then he plays dumb about the problematic aspects of Ana and Christian's relationship. Or maybe he wasn't "playing" dumb?
Okay. Let's say his understated take on Christian didn't appeal to you. Fine. From the boorish and repetitive nature of your posts, I'd say you are incapable of understanding subtlety.
Since then, he's done Jadotville and Anthropoid, among other things. Different roles and he's been acclaimed.
But you are annoyingly fixated on FSOG. Something about Jamie's Christian was more compelling than you are willing (or capable) of expressing. That you can't let it go proves that Jamies is a good actor. He inhabits your psyche, tiny and misshapen though your psyche is.

But it is going to bother him eventually, because he most likely took this for the 'fame' angle, surely not the challenge, as he's far better at it in "The Fall," that he will be remembered for fantasy BDSM crap and nonsense. It's embarrassing how BDSM is being represented here, and not part of that lifestyle, many who are, disapprove of its representation in the "Fifty" movies. His family can't be too happy about it, but for the money angle, wife either, but, hey, he did it, and filled in for Charlie who couldn't and wanted it. The movie is fantasy totally, not real, not even close to how one 'saves' someone this damaged, so whatever anyone does, don't call it love. Psychopaths are incapable of love. But he was FANTASTIC in "The Fall." He's everything his director and co-stars said. What he needs to do is keep working on DIFFERENT roles and apply his talent and try to challenge himself.
He was amazing in Anthropoid and Jadotville too. Completely different roles. I just don't get the hype of Christian Grey its a senseless character with zero personality. Books was waste of paper. Sickness around this franchise is toxic.

Actually, in the Paley Center interviews they skipped it entirely when it was the cast for "The Fall" season two, which was filmed after "Fifty's first film.
He was born outside Belfast, but he went to school on the Malone Road. His school was only a few short blocks from the infamous flash point of Sandy Row the home of the Ulster Defense Association and Orange life.
I remember barbed wire all over the place just north of his school area.
Sure it's "South" Belfast and he's a posh proddy; and not from East or West, but if you've been there then you'll know that nobody was immune from what they saw then. How could you miss it?
Belfast was an armed camp to live in. Bombs going off. Riots a mile or two away from Malone from time to time. Gunfire in the air at night; you could hear it from the Malone Road.
At Queens you had helicopters circling all the time--the sound of helicopter sounds was a fixture even at Queens which is also on the Malone Road. That had armed military checkpoints, too, sometimes.
You think army trucks, tanks, armed checkposts peace wall doors to get in the City Centre to shop didn't affect him if he wanted to go someplace with his mates?
What I'm suggesting is that if you grew up and went to school in Belfast then, anywhere in Belfast, you'd know full well about the Troubles and which side your group was on because it ruled your daily life because of where you could and not go within the City. You didn't have to be a poor kid throwing molotovs on the Falls Road to have it affect you.
A posh proddy boy wasn't immune from seeing the violence and the armed camp the city was. It would have been part of his daily life in its own way.
In a lovely stroke of determinism, Dornan was brought up in a town near Belfast called Holywood. "Belfast in the Eighties was still not a great place to be," he says, "but I wouldn't have changed my upbringing for the world. I went to school in Belfast, all my mates were from there. But I was in a protected part of it. I'm not trying to sell it like I saw the worst of it - I didn't - but we definitely saw things, and there was certainly fear and tension that doesn't exist now."
Jamie Dornan November 2014 issue of Vogue UK
He seems pretty unaffected by it, "I wouldn't have changed my upbringing for the world"!
In comparsion Charlize Theron saw her mother shoot and kill her abusive father in self defence,
Yawn. You are wrong. Jamie said The Fall open doors for him. Even Anthropoid(For whom he got nomination for BIFA) & Jadotville directors hadn't seen the fifty crap. TBH Jamie is Modelling for more then 10 years and he can't act like 5 year old in interviews. Its a pity He wasted himself in this awfully written trilogy.

Too bad for you then, he was desperate for this job, he auditioned first time around, then when Charlie left, he went for it the second time and got it, and uprooted his nine month wife to Canada! Guess the critical acclaim from The Fall wasn't enough for him. He wanted fame too!

Whatever people think about his choices in interviews and how he handles the press onslaught over a trilogy like this, I always am aware Mr. Jamie grew up in a war zone called Belfast during the Troubles.
This is a young man who knows what serious violence and tragedy is and undoubtedly saw it first hand every day of his very young life before the peace initiative.
As a result, I find folks who grew up in the Troubles that I know have a very mature approach to life and they know what's important in life and what isn't.
I suspect he knows full well what is Hollywood nonsense--like what he says about nudity in interviews. He undoubtedly has the perspective in life to know that he can address it if required, but not take too seriously.
That is whom I see giving these interviews---a thoughtful young man with perspective that comes from his youth in a place like Belfast.
Good lord LOL! HE grew up outside of Belfast, in Co. Down, both his parents were obstetricians, he went to a private school. He was protected and well off, please don't be ridiculous and paint him as a survivor of the troubles!
In 3 years of press interviews they repeated all the same questions. Hey Jamie did your wife see the movie?? What was sex was like?? How was working with your costar is like? Same bs for 3 years.

Oh Jamie is asked the same questions again! wah wah👶
Well..he has said he is just happy to be working..I am sure the money made from the 50 Shades series as allowed him to take parts in the indie movies that he likes to do..and work with different actors and directors.
And I like how in the book Grey, he does spend time with guys...he has a trainer, that he likes and works his butt...golf games for business...and off trail bike riding with his brother..watching football and baseball games with his Dad and brother..
“Loosen up a bit! Like, relax. Get some guy friends. He’s obviously been through some horrific things in his youth that have colored who he is today, but he needs to let his hair down a little bit.”
See, this is the problem I have with mental illness being white-washed or downsized to, hey, get some guy pals and lighten up a bit, get yourself to a comedy club. NO. Victims of child abuse often, almost always, become addicts of one thing or another and there are NO quick fixes. AND many have multiple addictions which makes 'fixing' them even harder because one of the several, is the one that might kill them. Can sex kill? It sure as hell can. Ask David Carradine or INXS's Michael Hutchence, both died having 'sex' on their own trying to escalate the high only to die in the process. Not saying either of them were abuse victims, but "Christian Grey" is. Christian can't be 'fixed' or 'cured' by love. He's a PSYCHOPATH and there is no cure for them. This movie is FANTASY. The oldest fantasy around, man's penis fulfills the woman, and her purity completes him. Bull.
Sex was Christian's addiction...but only when he was dominant...no touching..if he tied them up, they couldn't touch him..and when he meets Ana he goes against all his rules..all of them..he does try to break it off during his coffee date, but that would be the end of the story..and he does try to manipulate her, but, he is also changing..doing a lot of firsts, giving her a date night..going to her workplace, taking her soaring..all no no's...and it does escalate...and she leaves...and he is perplexed...I hope they have his encounter with his psychiatrist Dr.Flynn, in the next movie..it explains a lot.
Christian can't be cured or fixed? A victim of abuse, physical or sexual will for ever be broken? Not true at all. Love and happiness can fix many things, can bring a peacefulness .
As for a made up character like Christian? The man finally finds a woman who he wants more with. It's a struggle, it takes some time, but they find a way. Let's not forget he has professional help which is on going. You can find a way to deal with the past and move on. To live a happy life. He is not a Psychopath. Christian dealt with his abuse by hurting others that agreed to be hurt by him. He was not hiding in dark corners waiting to attack. His relationship with Ana started the same way. He fell in love with Ana and was willing to do what he had to do to keep her. He changed. He wanted to please her and make HER happy. Christian was able to deal with his past finally, to move on in his future. A future where he finally found happiness and love.
I think Christian's main problem is he doesn't feel he deserves love..hope they include some of his and their visits with Dr.Flynn...who has an interesting theory.
There need's to be a scene or 3 with Flynn...I don't think it needs to be a huge part...maybe a mention from time to time...I don't need details...Just that Christian went or came back from... Flynn did help Christian after all this time. Now he has moved on and thats what important,
