Is Season 2 as bad as S1?

I was really disappointed with the first season. A great opening episode turned into a virtually Mick-less trek around the outback, with a ludicrous final episode in which the heroine walks away and drops her knife as a symbol of closure... even though she’s just seen that Mick’s body has disappeared! WTF.

I also found the violence and horror to be WAY softer than the two films, and the script and performances took a nosedive.

So is Season 2 as Mick-free, bloodless and dumb as S1, or does it manage to reach the heights of the movies?

Season 2 has more Mick and violence, yes.

I finally watched Season 2, and I have to say it was much better than S1. It’s everything the first season should have been. Plenty of Mick picking off a bus-load of tourists who were rather well acted. It had some weak moments in which characters behaved stupidly, and Mick is bordering on supernatural now, but it delivered where it needed to.

The violence was still toned down compared to the films, and the writing never got anywhere near the intense 1-on-1 Mick had with Paul in WC2, but it was worthy of the franchise, unlike S1. Recommended.

Uhm, no.. S2 was quite good, but it's trash compared to the first season. I loved the cinematography, cameraworks, leading actors from the first season and Lucy Fry did a bloody good jobs. S2 had a good plot, but most of the characters were just so dumb and Mick was only one fun character to watch.

No, Lucy Fry did not do ‘a bloody good jobs’, she was bland and her character was painfully stupid - especially when she walked away at the end, dropping her knife as a symbol of closure immediately after noticing that Mick’s ‘body’ had disappeared 🤦🏻‍♂️

The fact that Mick is barely in S1 makes it a complete waste of time. Once you’ve seen the admittedly good first episode it’s dull as hell, with Eve going on random missions for various Outback NPC’s that have nothing to do with the plot.

It was as if the series was aggressively trying to waste your time, teasing you with a shocking first episode and occasionally dangling the prospect of Mick appearing, only to constantly disappoint.

It took a huge chunk out of my considerable respect for Greg McClean. S2 went some way to restoring it, but even that was far tamer and less accomplished than his Wolf Creek movies.
