is it a prequel set before part 1?
or continues from part 2?
cause if it's the latter what's the point? might as well do a 3rd movie.
if it's a prequel it would make more sense since it's a to series, seeing a little into Mick's past.
Its a continuation, cause they reference and talk about the victims from the first movie and even show pictures of them. So yeah this definitely takes place after the first 2 movies. It doesn't pick up where part 2 left off or anything but you know its after it.
It starts with Mick targeting a random family and it goes from there. You get little bits of references from the first 2 movies throughout it.

shareIts actually a good show, they do go into Mick's backstory and you sorta find out what lead to him becoming a serial killer. So if you're curious about Mick's backstory then you do get some insight into it near the end.
So if you was interested mainly for Mick's backstory then they do go into it, its not just another story of Mick randomly killing another random person, well it sorta is but you get info on Mick's past.

actually, there is nothing to suggest it takes place after the second movie. it could easily fit between the two movies

There is N O T H I N G that prevents it from being before movie 2.
It definitely takes place AFTER part 2, since the newspaper mention events from 2014, movie 2 was set in 2013. Why do you want to complicate it ? The chronology is simple, it all takes place in the order it's released, it's Wolf Creek 3, but in a mini series form, instead of a movie.
