Loved the series.....until the very end (Spoilers)
What a terrific series....confidently and slowly paced, excellent tension, and Jarratt still having great fun as Mick. It's great to see him again embrace a character he apparently feels has typecast him for other roles (from interviews I've seen with him).
But the very end, frustrating...even if we know Mick has to survive for WC3. Knowing what Eve has gone through and how dangerous and resilient she knows Mick is, there's no way she doesn't completely finish him off with the knife there. Just no way. To be sure. Of course, the end still kinda works with her almost literally driving away into the sunset, as she finds her revenge and finishes her story.
I'm curious whether WC3 will be Mick heading to the U.S. to chase her. Kinda doubt it, because I can't see how a film can have continuity from a TV series, but you never know.
The only other flaw to me is that Mick's origin story didn't work for me, and part of me wishes it hadn't even been introduced at all. The great fear of Mick is that his terror and lust for blood has never really been properly defined for us before. He is this image of evil, roaming the land. I'd prefer that image over the one who accidentally killed his sister and then started offing random tourists. Psychopaths are born, not made (not completely), so the accident + abuse from parents doesn't make a convincing backtale for me.
Still, a terrific series and several cuts above the usual serialized horror tripe these days. WC has always had terrific consistency and quality.
