Just as good as ER

Both shows are great, both are different, Code Black will always be compared to ER due to the main topic, but don't worry about that. What is strange is that nobody is comparing Grey's Anatomy to ER which are both similar because they focus a lot on the characters personal lives.

Code Black is obviously doing well with American audiences, good for them! I hope the show lasts for years, it probably will, the performances are decent and it's an informative TV Show, you can learn a lot of things about hospitals, operations and surgeries, the hospital lingo is always a good thing to learn in general.

Grey's Anatomy and ER are not similar.

GA's main characters are all surgeons. It is mainly a medical soap opera. ER's main characters range from doctors, surgeons, nurses, social workers, and even hospital clerks, with an occasional paramedic or firefighter thrown in (Weaver dated a firefighter and they even had a child). ER is more of a medical drama with some personal backstories.

txbardtobe: Oh i see. It's been years since iv'e watched ER and i rarely watch Grey's Anatomy, iv'e only watched a few episodes which was a few years ago, i didn't know that they were ALL surgeons in Grey's Anatomy.

In my opinion i still think ER and Grey's Anatomy are a little bit similar due to the relationships that they have with each other, Grey's Anatomy characters have relationships and friendships just like ER did.

I will re-stream ER at some point, that show was great and it had some good storylines, i may try and check out Grey's Anatomy again, but if i'm still not into it, i'll leave it alone.

The only thing you will learn from Code Black is the soap opera plots. It is not remotely accurate in any way as to the way an ER runs, or how medical/surgical problems are handled, or how surgeries are performed.
However, I like the characters and storyline arcs.
It is a smidge more accurate than House, but just a smidge.

shells50: I see, well let's hope that they stop the soap opera stuff, maybe they're trying to show the viewers that the main characters are likeable, the thing is we can see that they're likeable with the way that they interact with each other and the way that they treat the patients while fixing them up, they don't need to add sentimentality at the end of every episode, i agree.

We have no idea what your qualifications are and I really doubt you are qualified to know the truth about how an ER actually works. I do expect you to reply and insist you are a doctor or something like that but unless you can provide something authoritive I will try to avoid responding. You don't need to sacrifice your privacy; if you can provide something authoritive and verifiable that makes it clear that Code Black is not accurate then that would work.

Jaguars and Jeeps are both cars, right? I am not aware of anyone comparing Jaguars to Jeeps.

I who rewatch ER, noticed the number of plots, and sub plots GA stole from it. But quality-wise, GA is a full blown soap opera, that counts out seasons, just for the sake of longevity. Which ER almost did, but chose to end, instead.
I've never watched Code Black, but from what I've seen of it, it seems to be more GA, and all it clones, than ER. At least, early seasons ER. Late seasons ER, being too eager to compete with GA, to keep the formula that made it a success in the 90s. Set the tone to these (mini)series.

I like Code Black so far but I think it needs more time to be as good as ER was (earlier Season at least)

Am I the only one who imagines the ER credits tune at the end of a Code Black episode? I see it as a compliment though :)

With a little bit of time, Code Black will become just as good as ER. But maybe I'm overrating all my sweet memories of ER, because some episodes (seasons even) were a real drag. Anyway, in all the multiple-victims-scenes, ER always seems a bit more urgent or tensen. Must be the way it's written and shot. And I suspect ER had a little bit more budget per episode.
