Trying to kill John after getting what he wanted wtf? Its like despite John reputation and wiping out the Russian mafia syndicate single handed, why the hell would anyone else still want to mess with him?

Santino was a superb young mafia guy. I think he believed than he can take down a famous assassin after using him. In the previous movie the son of the Russian (the actor who play Theon Grayjoy in GoT) also was a arrogant prick. The pride of youth I guess...

That's right. I also remember the death of Santino's sister. Supposedly John murdered her, so Santino won't have loose ends. And John was one. You can say than Santino could hire another assassin, but if you think so, he needed a good one, because his sister had Cassian (who is a very skilled one)

Santino's whole plan (i.e. the premise of the movie) is stupid from the get-go.

Most movie baddies, no matter who or what they're up against, always deemed themselves untouchable and consequently end up getting carried away and paying the price. And not for nothing but what else would Wick be doing for the rest of the movie if he wasn't trying to fight/kill off everyone Santino sent?

Anyways, it's no surprise big shot Santino was so confident Wick wouldn't dare retaliate in the continental (yes the rules are serious but this is John Wick mofo!).
