'John Wick' feels a bit forced?

I don't know, but I was looking forward to the first film so I went to see it at the cinema and I found it to be very mediocre. Not 1 star bad, but not the masterpiece people made it out to be.

I'm also seeing a lot of comparisons to John McClane, Rambo and Arnie films. It just feels like Hollywood is forcing it a bit, like they're trying to make John Wick the next coolest action hero. But unlike the aforementioned I just don't feel it.

I get that the character is coming out of retirement but I'd never heard of John Wick until 2014 so the "Back doing what he does best" tagline stuff seems like they're trying too hard. Considering the first film was only 2-3 years ago it doesn't have the same driving force as say when Arnie returned to film acting. Or am I alone with that belief?

I haven't seen this one yet but did anyone find the first film average but the sequel superior?

I liked them both. The original John Wick was a refreshing action movie in a sea of PG-13 superhero/fast and furious movies.

And all this is your opinion of which it is in the extreme minority. Both are excellent action movies.

I agree with you, hold up you're me from the past!

I watched the first one and Nobody. I preferred Nobody as Bob Odenkirk's character is more interesting and he's a better actor (Sorry Keanu Fans).
I watched #2 today and it's forgettable. The first one had a better plot for the chatacter and the violence. #2 was more about style than substance.

That's really the issue. I can see movies with violence, gore, action, and gunfighter anywhere. The style in this is what sets it apart (plus the Market is full of PG13 action flicks). But the plot is so forced that the style takes the show.

If you didn't care for the first, I'd recommend skipping the sequels. There are plenty of fans who love this and that's awesome. More power to them. For me, I'm happy to let them enjoy it and skip the rest.
