shareI so agree. If I thought about what kind of music this show might use, I guess I would have expected hip-hoppy urban music. I was so surprised at the variety of music, and it's all terrific.

Admittedly, I was distracted my first viewing. But I won't say it was because it was overpowering or poorly executed. It's because I recognized some voices but the song titles eluded me. I heard Timmy Thomas, Me'shell Ndegéocello,... and became engrossed searching lyric phrases and listening to songs on YouTube. lol
Tunefind didn't have the show listed yet.
Then I read articles about Me'Shell writing the theme song and score.
The second go-round, like others, it took me a while to adjust to the sound quality, diction and dialect. And I agree, the subtitles were off, lacking or missing. But by the second episode, didn't need subtitles or CC anymore; ears adjusted.
