Davis didn't do anything wrong. He didn't know she would be raped. Being cold hearted isn't a crime. She's a whore. Those other dudes need to be prosecuted, not him. He shouldn't give her a dime. He's about to retire anyway. Ridiculous

reply

I agree. I don't get the weird situation the characters are being placed in. Davis didn't rape her. And if she thought she was his main side b@tch then why was she still working as a call girl??? His teammates are the monsters. If she said No then No means No. I thought she was going to say Davis set her up to be raped but he paid for her services. Why would she stay if Davis left??? It's a sad sad bad bad situation. But just like the camera caught him going inside the room it would also catch him coming out before the rape occurred. True he was a monster for not showing any compassion. But he was never mentioned to be a suspect when she first made a complaint. So why was he involved anyway??? Now that his family knows what is Davis paying her to keep her mouth shut for??? Everybody knows. He is on tape. Now everybody will forever think he is a rapist who paid off the victim because he was caught on tape and didn't even try to defend himself.

It would have made more sense if he had just left before the rape occurred but he was having an romance with her and was paying her to do threesomes with other men or something and he turned out to be gay and was trying to hide it by going through her first to look straight.

Hell if I was Davis I wouldn't have believed her and thought she was trying to get more money. Which she is getting more money.

All the tape proved was yes he was indeed paying for sex which he already admitted and if his wife thought it was just one time she a fool. Davis is a cheater she should have left from the start. He was thinking about his self and his reputation he didn't give a damn about his wife and kid

And who cares about him paying her if the police have you tape don't they have to prosecutor. If I kill your husband and you say oh don't worry just pay for the fireball and a extra 3 million we cool. A crime still occurred band it has to be investigated by police and somebody going to jail.

I think the show likes the fact that people see this situation in different ways. I was put off by all the attention given to Charley's apology to Melina. Obviously they were making issue of Charley's incorrect assumptions and Davis' lies, but really? Melina was a ho... errrm a "sex worker" that called herself having an affair with Charley's husband and would've gladly taken him from Charley and Micah's home without a second thought. Charley owes her nothing.

Had Melina kept her business and stayed professional its likely she wouldn't have found herself in that situation in the first place. Pros know the risks and take precautions so they are not vulnerable to attacks. They dont hang around once the business is done like a lover. It was obvious that while Davis may've kept his business exclusive to one professional sex worker for good reasons, he also seemed to treat/see her as no more than that.

I agree with you, but rape is rape regardless of her profession. Charley apologized because the woman was assaulted and albeit Davis wasn't there when it happened he left her there to be used.

Agreed on the subject of rape, no question.

Thing is we still don't know what really happened. The scene instead played up Davis' arrogance, his lies, and his obnoxiously cold response to Melina to make the case that she was truthful in all she said. Was she?

reply

Wow. Even after the truth comes out she's still doubted. Melina was taking a shower. Not "hanging around like a lover". Pardon her for not expecting Davis to leave her alone with two other dudes, without asking her about it. He didn't treat her like a professional, he treated her like property.

I don't understand/like how the whole rape thing played out either. I agree w/the poster above who ask WHY Davis gave that @H*RE a dime! Everything has already hit the media and his wife already knew so what exactly was he paying for? Too late for her silence. SHE admitted that HE didn't rape her....he can't be proscecuted for what other GROWN MEN did to her. I would have given that w&*R# a dime! SHe is a filthy prostitute who used to gang bang so what's she upset about now?

When I paid for my landscaping and lawn care, I didn't concern myself with their worker's safety: Whether they stepped in my dog's doo, twisted their ankles stepping in holes, or were scratched by bramble bushes. MY concern was a pretty lawn, removal of that old stump and roots, manicured shrubs, replacing the support wall and properly laying the patio and driveway.

It's the professional service provider's responsibility to care for their workers' safety and ensure no damage to my property.

Davis treated her like a professional service provider. He bought his teammates a gift, the pro's service. He expected her to provide the service to his teammates that she'd done for him and protect his property (discretion).

You are a sociopath.

And throwing money at a woman after you rape her does not count as paying for a service.

reply

He paid her up front for the service.

His attorney, manager and wife threw money at her after the incident BEFORE she got the full story to protect her client's (and husband's) reputation and standing with his organization.

The night Melina was raped, Davis left her in the room with extra cash. He didn't say 'here's your pay for the upcoming gang bang'. He left money behind, told his teammates she was all theirs, and she came out of the shower to find them in her room.

That's not how you treat a professional. If he saw her as that he would have asked upfront whether or not she was willing to service his friends. Then, if she said yes, he would have paid her for that. But he just assumed she was his. She wasn't. Sex workers are not property. You don't pay for one thing and then expect them to be cool with everything else. Unless you're a monster.

He treated her like a professional - one who can handle her business. Why should he assume the role as a supervisor? Why should he anticipate that she may say "no?" And his teammates, how could he expect that they'd assault her?

Handle her business? It wasn't her fcking business. He didn't ask her; she didn't agree to it.

Why should he anticipate that she may say "no?"
You have a serious empathy deficiency. And you are part of the problem.

"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."

reply

You got it wrong. I am empathizing more with the customer than the service provider.

HOWEVER, I would like to see Davis inflict some hurt on his teammates for whatever awful things they did to the woman (IF) they truly harmed her and she's not just upset because Davis thinks of her as a sex toy that he lent to his buddies to play with.

Regardless, Davis has been marred by this incident. He's paying harshly for a crime he didn't commit. And it will follow him for the rest of his life. It's doubtful he'll ever be gainfully employed again in anything related to the NBA. He'll have no sponsors and no residual income. He'll have a hard time starting up his own business. His only path may be politics.

It's clear to me that you see Melina as unworthy of dignity or respect, because she is a sex worker. In your opinion, her thoughts, feelings and consent come second to whatever the "customer" wants.

Talking to you is starting to gross me out, so I'm done.

The winter season of gifting is approaching. As you make your online purchases and have them shipped to various parts of the hemisphere, do you have thoughts of the many distributors, if their warehouses are located in safe areas, if weather conditions are good for air pilots, if roadways are clear for the drivers, if packs of wild dogs are roaming near pickup sites,...muggers, hijackers, armed robbers? Doubtful. Your only concerns are that the items arrive at their destinations at the time promised by the seller, in the condition promised by the seller, and that the recipients enjoy them -- that's the transactional relationship.

If he pays her to drop the charges then the charges will likely be dropped. Even if the state did pick it up (which is highly unlikely) then all she would have to do is say that it never happened and that will be that because her word is the only real evidence that they have against him.

I don't think that she ever accused Davis of raping her. I think that it was just assumed by the media and public opinion since he was seen on camera carrying her into the room that she was raped in which looked really bad. I don't think she ever meant for Davis to get caught up in the scandal but after that phone call that she recorded and the way he treated her, she just wasn't in at mood to defend him once that video came out.

I woke up this way...

reply

Never thought about that but you are right. No victim. No testimony. No case. I still think this was very weird. And don't get why he was paying her. Maybe to not further expose all the dirt she may have on him. It is real sad how he is treating her. Maybe the point is that he was still willing to throw money at her again to just make her go away instead of just talking to her like a person instead of treating her like a sex slave money hungry whore. Even thought she is a whore. I guess the moral is whores are people too. Whores have feelings to. So all whores matter.
