Gracie,Otto and Duval went full retard that episode.

Gracie became the usual annoying teenager cliche that makes stupid decision and causes trouble. In real life she would probably end up in sex slavery. I guess they wanted to justify her being on the show. Otto went insane because his sister no longer wants to be his wet nurse. And Duval actually thought a fake warrant and then ranting about people coming back from the dead would help his case.At least gather evidence of such things before looking like the crazy homeless guy on the corner yelling about Illuminati.

Overall I got to say I'm surprised this show lasted so long. Of course this show won't be renewed after they burn off the 11 episodes. It had an interesting plot but they could have done a better job casting.

Agreed.

I didn't even need to watch the entire episode. I watch the first 10 minutes then skipped to the last 10.

I knew Grace was going to be kidnapped it was just a matter of which episode.

reply

The other two I could at least why they did what they did up to a point, but Duval really let his brains ooze out of his head in this episode.

No blah, blah, blah!

1. Teenagers are clichés, act stupid and cause trouble. They override rational thinking the first chance they get. Smart girls are no exceptions.

2. Otto didn't go insane, he always was, but his sister kept him more or less on the rails of moral conduct. In freudian terms, she was his super-ego. When he felt betrayed and cut off, he derailed. It's a completely logical and predictable outcome.

3. The Pritchards planned for things to go down this way. It's obvious from the look they gave each other when Duval got arrested, and because Duval did the exact stupid thing (punch the bad guy) that Jimmy told him would accomplish nothing. But getting arrested for it after forging a warrant will apparently accomplish something. What, I don't know, but we should at least wait and see, and not call the writers stupid right away.

Bringing the whole FBI into their plan was guaranteed to backfire.

The cool thing would have been to get into the building and then kick ass up to the CEO, while Mary's own goon squad mopped up the rest of the guards.

Corporate warfare.

There was no reason for Duval to say all that stuff about genetics and Jimmy being brought back from the dead. He could have gotten all the help from the FBI he needed just by playing for them Gracie's phone call with her being gagged and her one-word text message of who kidnapped her.

This was a total jump-the-shark moment.

His FBI boss has had a very bitchy attitude against him since day 1.

When he was getting great arrests she wanted to investigate him for being successful, and that is one reason that Pritchard the Informant became a handy friend/brother/Dad to have around.

I recall he did call the FBI to check Garrett's phone records and they turned him down, which seems very BS, since cops engage in all kinds of unauthorized use of the technology that is available to them.

So unless Duval and Pritchard have some kind of super-secret plan that involves making the Boss Bee look bad, it seems like Duval has not noticed that nobody is giving him any ice to skate on.

Keep in mind that it looked like the fat dyke FBI agent is the one that called the Boss on him after Duval told her not to ask questions.

Now, at best, if they recover Gracie and expose Connor's secret experiments and murders of innocent people, Duval will get his job back. If they had just blown it up as a "it just happened to be there" arrest, Duval would have been HERO COP.

Of course, all this would be unfolding in season 2, which may never happen.

I agree. Unless as another poster stated, where he said it might be a plan of the Pritchards, I do believe you are right and it's a jump the shark moment. I mean how could he come up with saying something that sounds so stupid. We know what's going on. But the FBI are clueless so saying something like that only makes you sound crazy. I don't feel sorry for Gracie at all. She was being a stupid teenager as usual and they do these things all the time; they never listen and always run away with some fool fool guy twice their age. Go figure.

I might be in the minority here but I have some sympathy for Otto. He has learned to be totally dependent on Mary, did a scientific experiment on her with an old man so that he can save her life, and instead of her continuing to lean on him as well and be there for him, she is falling in love with said "old man" and neglecting Otto. I think Mary could have handled the whole situation better and I blame her somewhat for how things have escalated.

You might be on to something there. Your reasons are persuasive.

I'm now considerably more interested than I was, in what happens with that part of the story!
