This game is based in these movies... (spoilers!)

(Spoilers about the ending)I love this game and I love the characters but the game is clearly based in, at least, two movies. The first one is clear: The Buttefly Effect. The second one is a Spanish movie directed by Alejando Amenabar (Abre los ojos, The Others): Tesis. The game's plot was a little like Tesis and the end, in the dark room, is clearly based in Tesis, when Angela is kidnapped and she is going to be the next victim.

I don't know if it's based on those films but maybe they were inspired by some mediums.

To me it felt like a mixture of The Butterfly Effect, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (my favorite Silent Hill game--this is how you do the the most gut-wrenching video game ending of all time), Uzumaki, and Degrassi.

Donnie Darko too.

The song The Church - Under The Milky Way would have fit with the soundtrack of Life Is Strange.

Donnie Darko to sacrifice yourself or others.
Life is Strange to sacrifice Chloe or others.

I definitely first thought of The Butterfly Effect when I first played the game. Donnie Darko as well. Both are films I love so that's probably why I loved the game so much. Lol.

I think none of you have seen Tesis. It's pretty obvious its influence.

reply

I haven't seen Tesis in fact.

There are also a lot of Twin Peaks influences and references in there (Chloe's license plate, the graffiti in the Two Whales' bathroom). The dream sequence in Episode 5 is also very David Lynch.
