She captured the mother's narcissism wonderfully. I hope they write her character out and don't try to recast the role. That would be a huge mistake, and I really doubt they would do that.
Carrie Fisher, who plays Mia, died on December 27, 2016 shortly after filming of season 3 of Catastrophe had concluded. This would turn out to be her final TV role.
So, whatever they're doing for the role, if anything, will be in season 4, which gives them a year to figure things out. Unless they decide to do re-shoots for 3 to incorporate some sort of farewell. Considering how famous she is and how integral she was to the show, I'm guessing they'll do re-shoots. An in-memory-of placard or something to that effect wouldn't be sufficient, imo. Well see.

. Oh, thanks, I'm glad they had finished filming S3 if indeed Wikipedia is correct.
Carrie was so great in that role. I'm really sad she's gone. Sharon's family are weird and annoying but not even close to the wonderful persona that Carrie was. .
I'm glad to hear there will be more of Carrie Fisher in Season Three. She was fantastic here, and hers were the best-written lines of the show. But I wish more of her scenes were filmed with the other characters rather than talking on the phone with them.
It's hard to imagine how the show will handle Ms. Fisher's death. I would guess the producers would limit it to a placard at the end rather than incorporating it into the plot, then move on without her. Killing her character off would seem inappropriate, even for this show. It's awkward regardless of how they proceed. But most of all, I'm sorry she's no longer with us.

When a celebrity passes, there's usually a window where the world mourns, but eventually, most people move on, so it's pretty rare to see memorials a year+ after someone has passed. That being said, this is Carrie Fisher, and, as far as I know, this is her last acting role. Sharon Horgan also seemed to be especially impacted by Carrie's passing:
I'm not sure what form it will take, but I guarantee you that the producers (one of which is Sharon) will remember Carrie Fisher on the show with more than just a placard.

Yes, she was terrible, just great in the part.
Not sure if it was great acting or screen writers really know how to make people hate mother-in-laws? ;-)
Definitely Carrie Fischer's best role, she was great as the mom. Sad to see the season end just as she made an appearance and was starting to get in the story. I wonder how it got left in the story/series with Carrie. Did her death have anything to do with this season being only 6 episodes?
