Please Woody, retire. It's over!

I am a big Allen fan, especially of his pre-2000 works.
I don't understand his thing about making a movie every year: some of the "recent" productions have been quite forgettable (my worst: Vicky Christina Barcelona and To Rome with love) but I find this his absolute low :(

Not that is so bad, it's just boring and flat. And Miley Cirys is totally out of place. She sounds fake and "loud" every single line she delivers.
Unluckily, I think that Elaine May is a little too old to perfom convincingly...

OK, I see you do not like this movie.
Some Woody movies I like better than others.
This is not my favorite, but in his next movie he is just liable to blow all our socks off.
And I liked Vicky Christina Barcelona a lot.
So, really it is rude and obnoxious to tell the man to retire ... as if he would ever listen
to you or even read this. Your opinion is enough, we can all do without your rudeness

reply

I didn't mean to be rude and of course I know he's not going to read this :D
But you know, when you are a big fan and you see (in your opinion) the last X works of your favourite author being a deception, the least you can hope is that he retires, quitting with the bad serie.

It doesn't help anything to be negative, or insulting.
But age is not the issue. Woody at younger ages has made worse movies.
In fact his earliest movies were some of his worse, and I wonder how he ever
got to make more movies after "What's Up Tiger Lily" or "Take The Money And Run".
He goes for a while making average or even a stinker once in a while, but then he
hits it with something completely different and great like "Match Point" or "Blue Jasmine".
Sometimes I go back and watch an older movie that I did not like at the time and find it
is not what I thought and I like it. Woody retiring would really be a shame, so don't give
him any ideas, please!

Woody and the Coen Bros, two favorites.

At best they are at 50%. Expecting anything more would be foolish and possibly foolishly worshipful.

His "thing about making a movie every year" goes back to the beginning, so all of the movies you're a fan of were made the same way. The difference is he's 81 years old now and frankly it's amazing that he's still so productive. I'll agree that some of his recent movies were forgettable but I don't think any of them were bad. He's been nominated for 3 Oscars in the past 5 years which is more than most writers/directors can say for their whole careers.

He messed up with this show by trying to write it like a movie and then just splitting it up. It's like he took one of his movie scripts and tried to add more dialogue to each scene to fill up the time. Plus whoever decided to cast Miley Cyrus pretty much killed the show before it started.
