The Main Threat To The Series

Is viewers expecting to much, I found the the series to be really good. The one trap I hope it avoids is that to many historians will tear it apart looking for things that the authors won't get exactly correct. This is a common threat to anything having to do with a War type of story arc.

Agreed. Episode3 was breathtaking. 100% historical accuracy would bore the crap out of us...

I also found the scenery as well as the clothing to be interesting. Contrary to a thread I read where the viewers thought the actors were stiff, I felt the actors really got into there roles. That child [in the pilot] that was made to hold a salute or be shot was a great scene.

Historians are no threat to the series because they're a tiny minority of viewers. The main threat to the series will be in the writing.

reply

You don't need to be a historian to notice the errors as they pop up nonstop throughout each episode.

reply

Please don't tell us what they are. Let us come to our own judgment.

Well they do not need to get everything 100% correct, but most of the stuff they got wrong would be avoided through a quick wiki check, I mean since expecting the writers to read multiple books on the subject matter would be too much, they could at least google their *beep*
As someone said in another thread, if you're doing something you could do it right.
It's not hurting the overall story for most people, but the writers should not be praised for their barely average job.
On the other hand the acting, even if not stellar, is way better than I expected. (here ya go for the expecting too much part)

after 1 season Plus 3 episodes... I'd argue the biggest threat is pacing the show against real world events, and either being willing to walk away when they get to D-day... or finding their own conclusion before that...

For all the nitpicks about anachronisms, the show feels 'thematically corrct' but the worst offense the show could commit is 'Pulling a MASH' and trying to give us 11 seasons set during a considerably shorter war.

You hit the nail on the head. How many times have we seen this happen. Thanks for commenting.

It could have been later that same day, or on the following day

Emphasis on "Could have"... Most episodes are expressly shown to cover at least two days passing... and by the Next episode refer to further passage of time...

IF they want to switch to an 'episode is a day' model they need to commit to that almost immediately...

obviously the space between seasons/Series is longer in our reality (9 months) compared to I believe Alfred cited his Torture/captivity being 37 days? (or did he say a session lasted 37 hours?) so you do have a point...
