Series 3
As the previous posts stated it's off to a brilliant start though one problem I have with the new series why are all Germans suddenly speaking English to each other?

shareI wondered about that, too. I guess it's easier for audience members to follow, if they don't want to read. Personally, I'd prefer it be authentic, with the real languages being spoken.
Of course, they're also speaking English when the characters would have been speaking French to someone -- like to local townspeople. I always think that's so the anglophone cast members don't have to learn their lines in French.
It can get a bit tricky, though, when they have to do other things, like have Aurora speak English with a German accent, when she's supposed to be speaking German to someone.
When it's a Canadian-Hungarian co-production, and being filmed in Hungary, a lot of the smaller roles are played by people with Hungarian names, who may or may not speak either French or German -- or English, for that matter. They'd end up doing a whole lot of dubbing.
I used to watch a show called 'Allo 'Allo which managed this problem quite easily. The actors all spoke English, but changed the accent to reflect which language they were meant to be speaking. So English accent for English, French accent when speaking french, German for German etc. So you were never confused when they switched languages, and other characters (who weren't supposed to speak said language) didn't understand. It was very effective and I've always felt this was an idea that should be universally adopted. It was also about the resistance in WW2. Comedy though and very funny.
Ain't no circus like an Andy Serkis
