I just finished watching the sixth episode. I really enjoy the muted tone of the show. It isn't ironic, zany, alternative...it's actually a lot like the major sitcoms of the 70's (such as All in the Family, which is obviously an influence). I definitely look forward to seeing more.

My one and only complaint is the mother could use some zaniness, which would add a bit of depth to her character.

Yeah, I felt the same way. It felt more like a good sitcom and that's why I watched the entire season as well. It felt like a breeze and I flew through the episodes. I hope they make another season!
