First episode was rather off putting

So, I watched the first episode and it almost felt a little disturbing. This show is really depressing and dramatic, and I didn't feel like it was funny enough to off put the drama and it gave it a very weird tone. I thought the show was all around very negative, the father is totally unlikable, and they seem to think that they should just throw the f word in every sentence because they can on netflix. They really do over do it on the crude stuff and language. I don't mind it when it fits, but it feels over the top here just to try to be more than it is. I liked the story in it, and the dramatic situations were good, everything just felt weird together i don't think they balanced the drama and comedy well. I also wish they gave us more reason to sympathize the dad instead of him just being an *beep*

I'd recommend watching the rest of the episodes. He becomes more likeable

You haven't seen 83.333% of the show. Try watching more than one episode before telling us what you wished the show would have done.

Its Bill fawkin Burr. Of course it is negative and hypercritical that is exactly his style. It also intentionally hearkens back to a time when kids were held accountable for their actions but they also got to be kids in a way they do not today.

Its offensive, because people were more offensive, but its also about raising a family with some balls, and I personally agree with Bill Burr that our society could use a wake up call in that department.

Couldn't get into the first episode, but the one where he takes his son to work with him and the baseball game 1 were pretty funny.

Don't watch it

If shows like Cheers, Seinfeld, Family Guy, and Arrested Development were reviewed after just one episode, they wouldn't have lasted very long. Hopefully Netflix will renew it and allow it to develop and hit its stride.

rewatched it, they are all really funny....scary to thinking where a second season could bring

You do realize this is set before all the PC bullcrap and that is kind of the point of it, people feel you have to be politically correct about everything, in that era parents truly were like this, when men were men.

What does that mean?

He said,
"Just put your feet down child,
'Cause you're all grown up now."
