Based on the standard of the previous New 52 movies, Batman vs Robin...

... will be terrible. Justice League: War, Son of Batman, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis ... what a big step down for DC's animation department :(

I rather enjoyed SON OF BATMAN, though I really wish BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD would get a direct sequel.

At this point it really is a trend of downward quality, and I can't help but blame the New 52 continuity. The one decent film that DC Animation has given us recently was "Assault on Arkham," which isn't part of that continuity (heck, it was even directed by the same guy who did "Son of Batman" and "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.")

And even with Assault on Arkham, it's a mixed bag. Because many of us truly believe it's one of the very worst movies WB Animation has ever put out. Me, for example. I believe that. It's just so mundane, unexciting, plot-driven, Batman-lite, and features Troy Baker forcing things just a little too much to be on Mark Hamill's level, which he never will be. He sounds like a cheap imitation, frankly. Like what someone doing a decent impression of Mark Hamill would come up with. And their conceptualization of what the Joker is was utterly lacking in depth, he's just your run-of-the-mill clown psycho who poses no challenge to the viewer. Hamill always managed to excite even when the material was lacking, so that's yet another way in which Baker fails to measure up despite a clear desire to do so. Hamill was creating a character and not simply imitating one. So Baker was the absolute worst part of the movie, but there's nothing much better to be found elsewhere. Batman is completely wasted, and the result is that the production hinges on 2nd rate, unrelatable villains with only passable voice acting and no tonal balance of a significant heroic presence to liven things up. It's like walking through the mud for an hour and a half and then having it dry on you later...

JL: War = Enjoyed it thoroughly
SoB = Trash
JL: ToA = Meh

BvR = Surprisingly decent, even had a few good-great moments

I'm with you, more or less.

JLWar = So much fun. Some insanely great action scenes.
SoB = Some great choreography, but other than that...
Assault on Arkham = So much dark fun
JL: ToA = JLWar-lite
BvR = Huge step up from SoB, mostly because of the source material.

Justice League: War would have been so much better had they gotten a completely different voice actress for Wonder Woman. She sounded like a teenage girl, especially when she started crushing on Clark (I refuse to call him Superman because he wasn't). Everyone in Justice League: War sucked except for Batman and Green Lantern. They're really the only reason I watch that travesty of a movie.

Son of Batman could have been worse but it wasn't nearly what I would call "good". It was entertaining, and I can really forgive a lot in that movie, which I can't really forgive in JL:W.

Refused to see Throne of Atlantis because of War.

So out of the four New 52 animated movies, I can only tolerate watching 1. That's not a good record. I'll end up skipping Batman vs. Robin.

Don't.
You were not only able to tolerate Son of Batman, but enjoyed it well enough.
This movie is more than tolerable.
