Isn't DC the biggest joke in pop culture?

Let's take a look at these:

- The new 52 sucks: plain and simple

- Their cinematic universe is laughable at best and is an embarrassment to the comic book genre as a whole.

- Their animation department, which was the only redeeming thing they had going, has now completely gone to crap.

Well at least we can always count on Marvel to do it right.

Some of DC's upcoming titles look promising. And there is still the Vertigo line. Although it would be great if Batman wasn't a psychotic d-bag.

DC hasn't really had a coherent cinematic universe up 'til now. Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy was a success (even if the final entry was weak). It is a shame that Warner Bros./DCE doesn't seem to know how to handle Superman. You fail to mention that there are currently several successful television series airing based on DC Comics properties.

Warner Bros. Animation can only furnish programming to Cartoon Network that CN wants to air. There are some interesting things happening, like the Vixen series for The CW Seed and the Justice League: Gods and Monsters shorts--not to mention the upcoming JL:G&M animated movie.

And it isn't like all Marvel-related movies have been gems either. Remember Dolph Lundren as the Punisher? Or the Captain America movie that went straight to video? Or Roger Corman's Fantastic Four? Or Ang Lee's Hulk?

That's the thing Christopher Nolan makes good movies, DC doesn't. I can firmly say Marvel makes great movies because they proved it outside of one director whether you're talking of Whedon, the Russos, Sir Kenneth Branagh etc. DC on the other hand, has completely failed to make anything decent outside of Nolan (Catwoman, Jonah Hex, The Losers, Green Lantern).

Most of these movies were done by a studio that never had the proper resources to make coherent blockbuster films, but now that they do, they are breaking world records. WB has the resources hence there's no excuse.

PS Ang Lee's Hulk was made by Universal studios not Marvel.

I think you are jumping the gun on this way to quickly. Man of Steel had a lot of Nolan influence in it because of Nolan still being involved. Although it might not have been a fan favorite it wasn't even a flop of a film.

DC had no intention of doing a shared universe until Marvel started doing one. Is it making Marvel money? Yes. DC has no choice though but to jump on the band wagon because that is what fans wanted. Prior to Iron Man being made Marvel was never even a contender. Unless you want to count the Fox and Sony films. Which most Marvel fanboys seem to denounce now that Marvel Studios exists. Yet they did have the materials needed to make blockbuster films and in many ways they were. However they are far from the source material in terms of quality.

Honestly I don't believe that you never have read or enjoyed a DC property. I don't understand this fanboy war. Prior to Marvel studios people were just excited about a screen adaption of a comic book property. It didn't matter who was making them. Newsflash it is perfectly fine to enjoy Batman v Superman and Captain America Civil War. People didn't even like The Civil War story line and after Captain America 2 did so well in the box office they aren't even giving him a solo movie.

About the movies: Marvel has two handfull of entertaining stuff, rest just decent or embarrassing like DC can offer too.
However the movie gems Watchmen and V/Vendetta are DC based stuff. No single Marvel movie comes close to their awesomeness ^^

Nolans Batman is nice too but comes only third nonetheless. And there are a some good Batman animations/cartoons. This one doesnt count to it, nor the even worse prequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvels best so far.

I think theres no better or worse. Both have their ups and downs.
The Iron Man trilogy (+Avengers 1) was fun too but mainly because of Robert Downey Jr. The stories were meh, just as every Spiderman story is meh. I wont start with Hulk or the Turtles. X-Men has some bearable movies thanks to Cpt Picard and Hugh Jackman.

DC right now is pretty solid. A lot of people give the New 52 a lot of flack, but there are a few really good titles in there.

Such as: Batman by Scott Snyder, Animal Man, Aquaman, Batgirl, Batwoman, and Supergirl

As for animated films, they are often hit or miss. They do 2 a year and most of the time they range from meh (Justice League Throne of Atlantis, Son of Batman) to incredible (Dark Knight Returns 1 and 2, Flashpoint Paradox)

Their cinematic universe is the same way. Only Batman has done really well, but they are now going to copy Marvel and have a shared universe. Over the next 5 years, we'll see if they can deliver good live action movies.

As for television shows, they are dominating. I'm not interested in Gotham, but I hear it has a fan base. Same goes for Arrow and Flash, and there's hype for Legends of tomorrow, and people liked the leaked Supergirl pilot.

Ever since the DCU Animated Original Movies started, there has never been less than three a year. But, you're right that they have not all been superb.

So pre-52 is better?

How is it better? What books were better?

Explain.

Are you a DC fan? You don't seem like one. If you're not a fan, then why do you care so much?

Their cinematic universe is laughable at best and is an embarrassment to the comic book genre as a whole.

Man of Steel is better than Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Thor 1 and 2, the Hulk movies, and Captain America The First Avenger.

you just made all your post invalid by saying that.

if you think marvel cinematic universe is going well you are either a fanboy or a kid

i always hated on new 52 but it has some exelent writtings like aquaman, wonder woman, red lantern corps, supergirl, forever evil..

their animation was amazing until normies like you starting interesting on it, the dark knight movies made them release a ton of boring batman content in videogames and animations because it was demanding.

Stop trolling, Marvellite...

- The new 52 sucks: plain and simple

In what way? There are plenty of brilliant, entertaining comics in the New 52 run (Batman, Green Lantern Corps, Nightwing, Justice League Darkseid Wars, Aquaman, The Flash, Justice League Dark). Don't pretend you read comics.

- Their cinematic universe is laughable at best and is an embarrassment to the comic book genre as a whole.

Again I ask, in what way? Sure they are only just starting their cinematic universe now but before that we had The Dark Knight trilogy which is arguably the best superhero movie series of all time, the original Batman starring Michael Keaton which was great for it's time, the original Superman movies starring Christopher Reeves and frankly while it wasn't perfect, I enjoyed Man Of Steel - it was no worse than Thor or The Incredible Hulk or Iron Man 3. Their upcoming movies look like they are going to be a lot of fun and their current TV shows - The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow have all been great so far.

- Their animation department, which was the only redeeming thing they had going, has now completely gone to crap.

Their animation department is brilliant. Not every animation can be perfect, but most of them are a lot of fun and I have enjoyed almost all of them to some degree. They have some great artists and voice actors and lots of the original voice actors are still performing such as Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill who will star in the upcoming "The Killing Joke".

Well at least we can always count on Marvel to do it right.

Can you?? Spiderman 3, Iron Man 2 & 3, The Amazing Spiderman 2... Their entire animation department is definitely of a lower caliber compared to their glory days of the 90's X-Men and Spiderman series. Also I'm presuming you're not an actual comic reader otherwise you'd be aware of how mixed their new "All-New All-Different" series is.

In summary- neither company is perfect (none are) but they have both done an exemplary job of providing us with generations of brilliant comic material across a variety of media formats. Piss off back to your mum's basement idiot.
