Why didn't the Court of Owls kill Batman?

This part doesn't make any sense. Batman found their hideout and then got gassed, hallucinated, and fell unconscious. Why didn't they kill him? Even more baffling is why the hell didn't they unmask him?

They sent the zombie assassins to kill him at the museum and they damn near succeeded so they obviously wanted him dead. They had a second chance to get rid of him but then they let him go??

They're this legendary underground society that knows or wants to know everyone else's secrets but they don't unmask the Batman when they have the opportunity? I can't wrap my head around this scene.

This movie just didn't feel right. Batman gets his ass kicked in almost every scene. His body armor seems totally ineffective. It can't protect against blades or even claws. He'd probably get scratched by a cat. He's easily defeated by Talon. Talon somehow is able to drive the batmobile? I thought it still had security measures even in the batcave. I know the batcomputer does. And I'm sorry but a 10 year old kid, no matter how strong, simply does not have the strength or body weight to throw or flip a fully grown 200+ lb. man. Just stop with that *beep* DC.
