I thought that as well.

That's what I thought... and I loved the sudden twist the scene took (with the old man). That's the moment that the movie really hooked me.

It did seem to me that the man in the hoodie was going to kill the neighbor.

Didn't it turn out that the drifter (the guy in the hoodie) was the person where the neighbor said that he stole his life/future? I figured the guy in the hoodie had finally tracked him down and was going to get revenge by killing him.

It certainly looked like he was gonna stab him, but Crowley was just a little faster.

I just watched the scene. That's exactly what he was going to do. Guess he didn't count on Doc Brown having oil-like tentacles.
