who is the strange white bearded guy in the end credits?

btw a really nice movie.. strong begining with a bit of a cheesy ending.

but back to the strange bearded man with the round glasses, who doesnt fit to the scene.
he appears during the end credits, after the grave stone transform to lanterns, in the sitting group of town members (second from the right).

does someone has an idea?

The guy with the glasses on the other side didn't fit in either.

I was wondering if the presence of a man with glassed in that moment meant we had gone from feudal Japan to more modern times. It would make sense, since Obon is still celebrated today.
