Who planted this tree
Early one when Tokue met boss, she asked 'do you know who planted this tree? but this is never followed up. It seemed as though she knew, and cared about it. I wonder if it was revealed who planted it, but I missed that.
shareNo, it was never referred to again. At the end they showed a new sapling planted in her honor where she lived. They chose a cherry blossom tree since that was what she had a preference for. They were not allowed to have gravestones where she lived. They were probably cremated.
She died saying her husband had died ten years earlier and that their baby was aborted by the authorities. Her baby would have been about the same age as the cook. That is what attracted her to him plus his sad expression.
