The drawings
I enjoyed the film mostly. The swapping of gender-roles in a convincing way (authoritive women impregnating males by surgery) was interesting.
The film had a whole lot of hints that made it possible to imagine a background to everything that was happening. Ten years old Nicholas makes drawings of a car, a ferris wheel, a horse, a curly haired woman... Considering these things aren't to be found on the Island he must have been kidnapped at some point in time. Also,he must have come from a very normal place, considering the normal things he draws. So what's up here? Where does this information lead? I was disappointed when the film ended and nothing was explained, apart from the fact that there seemed to be a normal world outside the weird island, and Nicholas got to return there.
