For anyone else who was confused like I was
Only male seahorses give birth
shareStarfish reproduce asexually
shareAre you stating a random fact or calling the boy a starfish?
shareNo, but there is nothing in the movie indicating that he's a seahorse either... it seems to be an evolved version of humans who nolonger need men to reproduce and are kidnappibg boys to birth their offspring. Hence the name of he movie.
shareIm pretty sure the females are indeed evolved seahorses, hence the detail to the back ridges and angular eyes and facial features, and can swim underwater like pros for long periods. I don't think Humans would just arbitrarily evolve to be more like seahorses, they are probably seahorses that evolved to be like humans.
I did not mean to imply that the boys are seahorses, just that they are the birthing vessel because the females, being evolved seahorses, are not capable of birth.
If the females are not evolved seahorses the film would be a series of pretty odd coincidences.
Actually that's a good point...
shareThe medical photographs Stella showed to Nicolas seemed to suggest that they were mutated humans. The shot of the chemical plant at the end hints that the mutations may have resulted from exposure to environmental toxins.
shareThis confused the hell out of me ?????
