Did You Notice

Did you notice Mae's ringtone? It's "Simple Gifts" a Shaker tune. "It's a gift to be simple.
It's a gift to be free." This sets up, in the first scene, the primary conflict in the film, the
pros and cons of the technology of the internet and especially social media. If you haven't
heard the tune before and didn't stay for the credits you might have missed its importance.
The credits feature a solo vocal version. And it's been used frequently by a variety of artists,
most notably by Aron Copland in his "Appalachian Spring" (originally music for a ballet, but
best known as a suite).
