Ratings for Craig vs. Seth anyone know? And my opinion on premiere.

Does anyone know after Seth's premiere week, if Craig was winning in the ratings or not?

I'm sure a ton of people watched Corden's premiere but let's see if they are down next week compared to Seth.

My opinion's on his premiere are mixed.

The band on the show is OK. But I hate the look of the bandleader my opinion he looks terrible, get a haircut man. And same goes for Quest on Fallon.

The guests running the gauntlet OK but some really don't want to slap hands, they do it on Live with Kelly and Michael and some guests LOVE it and some you can tell they'd rather NOT.

The multi-guest couch seemed uncomfortable. I would rather he bring on a guest have that guest stay, bring on the next and if 1st guest wants to inject chatter great.

The Hanks career sketch was too long and rushed.

The Golden Ticket sketch was great, and all the guests in it except Les Moonves CBS President. I am still pissed at that A-hole that he canceled one of my soap opera's As the World Turns, just to make room for that hen fest chat-show for his whore wife husband stealer, Julie Chen.

And Jay Leno in the sketch was a great move. Jay laughing at the end saying in 3 months this will all be mine. I don't wish Corden bad luck. But I miss Jay and wish Jay had a show on the air.

Corden singing at the end great, loved his voice. Does anyone ever remember a late night host that could sing?

The Golden Ticket bit was the best.

Would have been nice if Ferguson had played Leno's role... maybe that would have felt like him stealing Corden's opening night thunder... but I believe it could have been done in a way so that it seemed as a 'passing of the torch' pre-recorded bit... I must admit though that I chuckled a bit when Leno said at the end that in 3 months he'll get the show.

Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors of all time, and the 'idea' of reliving in a comedic fashion his most iconic film moments was very good, sort of like a live montage reel... but the execution was not very funny... it was kind of all over the place... reminded me of Fallon trying to tell fake stories with actors, about them working together when they were starting..

Fallon has done this segment with Will Smith, Alec Baldwin, Ricky Martin, Miley Cyrus, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, etc... they "remember" something, there's some sort of title/transition, they perform the sketch / return to the desk... but on Corden's show it was not as well executed, it had no breaks and felt all over the place, because they did the entire 7 minute bit in one long take... the sketch to me felt like a singer trying to hold a note for too long and losing his breath.

I did not like how he managed both guests on the couch at the same time... they barely allowed Kunis to talk... the thing with Graham Norton is that he manages better his questions and time allotted to each guest, he usually gives a little bit more time to the bigger star, but does not exclude entirely the other guests... and I felt there was a little bit of that on his first show... he has to balance that.

The set looks great... the intro song was lame compared to Craig's... the lyrics were composed of just repeating the title of the show over and over: "it's the late late show"... seemed like something from the late 80s/early 90s (the jingle/audio itself... not the video, which was very modern and good).

They could have gotten someone better for this... from the guest hosts they had I would have loved for Wayne Brady to have gotten the gig!

Premiere Show Rating 4/10.

Wayne Brady was one of my least favourites of the interim guest stars who presented the show. I also think he skews older than the audience to which CBS is trying to appeal. I thought Jim Gaffigan's output was the best, but he, too, likely skews too old.

I do agree they could have found someone better. I have seen Corden do live television before, and his improvisation tends to become physical (playing off his large frame) and awkward, rather than sharp witted.

I know that finding talent to manage a monster like this show is pretty difficult, but I am still confused by their choice.

Seth Meyers dominated Ferguson from the start. The first quarter of the Seth Meyers show defeated Ferguson by almost double in its target demo, and also consistently held more total viewers. In fact, Seth Meyers was averaging higher than even Letterman for quite a while, but Letterman seems to be squeaking above it lately.

Thanks Wood20. Now I am wondering if Craig's leaving was ALL Craig's decision or those ratings.

Now it will interesting to see after the initial premiere week, and the next months if Corden's ratings are bad compared to Seth, what then?

I still wish NBC had given Seth the Tonight Show and also kept the show in L.A. I am way tired of Fallon's thinking every darn thing a guest says is so fricking funny.

Letterman announced his decision to retire about a month after the new Fallon and Meyers show premiered and decimated the CBS late night shows, so I'm guessing the network was pushing for both of them to leave. Letterman has been consistently coming in 3rd place behind Kimmel, as well.
