I like Corden, but he should let this go. I feel like Fallon popularized that sort of thing and to me it always feels very phony and disingenuous, like some forced attempt to sound humble or something.
Corden's spin on a late-night talk show is like Fallon's in that instead of saying funny things, they do funny things, says James Poniewozik. "There's definitely something Fallonized about the new 'Late Late Show, not necessarily in a bad way at all," he says. "To replace the dryly funny Craig Ferguson, CBS also hired a performer: a game, eager multihyphenate who can act, sing and do physical comedy. And Corden's first hour, if not a copy of Fallon's show, clearly looks to use his talents in the way that Fallon's 'Tonight used his."
He seems likeable enough and thrilled to be there but somebody took my non talk show talk show where people actually talked and replaced it with a fairly typical talk show where most of the talking is indistinguishable from any other late night show.
At least Craig is still on you tube but I will miss seeing new not interviews.

I'll miss Ferguson's show too, but you can't really expect something brilliant and unique right out of the gate. He needs time to find his niche with the show. Ferguson at the beginning of his tenure on The Late Late Show was totally different from what he eventually became.

You will never get that with Corden. Many in the UK are completely baffled how he has made it this far except he has a talent for brown nosing the right people.
He is the polar opposite of Ferguson but maybe that's why he was chosen. Maybe someone just said, sod it, why bother with intelligence, wit and originality when we can have more "wacky" games and sycophancy.
So far, Corden looks and sounds like he knows he has blagged this gig.

This exactly. I absolutely love Craig and Josh but it took time to end up the way it was.
Plus Craig always used the "who's watching - CBS doesn't know I'm on" schtick. Even up til last year. Not much different from James doing "I can't believe I'm here" the first few episodes.
