When did Corden become the humble family man?

CBS has thrown the best that money can buy at Corden’s debut to make it a success. Big star cameos, a team of script writers and months of rehearsals to carry him through the show. (I wonder if Ferguson is annoyed or amused.)The only thing they couldn’t pre-record or script to death was his “chat” with the guests and that was dismal. Screechy, fawning and OTT. If you’re going to be marketed as a chat show host at least learn to chat and not shout.

I’ll admit I am no fan of Corden. This fake humble act of his is far removed from the arrogant loudmouth I have seen too often. One can only assume he has friends in high places if they watched his last compering effort and still decided to give him the gig.

I have to agree, corden is about as funny as being gang raped by angry badgers. but its america and everyone can be remade with the right amount of money and time. Ive yet to watch and doubt ill even give it the time of day to be honest. Its not sour grapes over ferguson, i just really cant stand corden.

Two episodes is hardly enough time to assess capability. As far as interviewing goes, all those years and Leno never bothered to learn the art and Fallon regularly does sketches and plays games - - perhaps to purposefully diminish the pressure of actually conducting interesting interviews that delve beneath the shallow and product promotion. Hell, Ferguson seldom bothered to actually interview, preferring instead to use the guest du jour to as a foil for his empty goofiness and innuendo. We'll never see a network return to the Snyder/Costas/Cavett one-on-one interview. Charley Rose may be dry, but at least there's a real conversation taking place. Letterman's a true broadcaster who knows how to modulate a discussion and as far as that goes, I think the torch is being passed to the perfect person.

I think Ferguson is a genius. And the word is "moderate", not "modulate", smart guy.

Thanks. Smart enough to know I chose the word I intended to.
