Late Late Show with John Oliver? Please, CBS, make it happen!

John Oliver's contract on HBO is up next year. He's the natural follow-up to Colbert. It's obvious that Colbert's fans won't stick around for the lame comedy that James Corden attempts. If CBS got Oliver, it would just makes sense.

Oh, what a wonderful thing that would be.

To have Oliver follow Colbert. We would all have died and gone to heaven.

Though I'd love to see that, there's no way that's gonna happen. Oliver has such a great thing going on at HBO. Many people are saying his show is better than The Daily Show. HBO is not gonna let him go, and unless Corden becomes an absolute failure CBS isn't gonna let him go.

If anything HBO will make it more than weekly. It is also possible that if the new Daily Show bombs he will be a natural choice. He is best as a political comentarist, like colbert was. It isn't clear he could do a regular talk show any better. He does seem to be the natural successor to TDS / TCR combo since Wilmore isn't doing so hot and some signs suggest Noah intends to be less political but only time will tell.

A. John Oliver is not going to leave "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" and HBO. CBS already tried that with Stephen Colbert, and it hasn't worked the way that they wanted to. You can't have someone on broadcast TV be as blatantly political at 11:30 pm as you do on basic cable or premium cable(HBO). Look what happened to Bill Maher and "Politically Incorrect." He turned off fans and advertisers and then got canceled. On broadcast TV, if the sponsors leave then there is no revenue for the broadcaster, so the show will be cancelled.

Cable and premium cable have subscriber fees and in many cases advertisers as well creating two revenue streams. Cable programs can take chances that broadcast shows cannot.

From your lips(or fingers)to God's ears.

Corden has more eyes on this little late night show than ever before. The Network is delighted. Anyone who can do that isn't going to be replaced by someone like John Oliver.
