Franchise Realty Corp!
I thought it was interesting when the brothers were bent over Ray starting this company. Prior to that they had absolutely no control and no say over the property the stores sat on and where they were located. So what changed for them other than faster expansion and more royalties for them with Ray being the landlord?
It is explained in the film. A potential franchisee finds a location for their store. They begin leasing the property from the owner and then the store is built on said property. The only issue I suppose would be if Ray seriously objected to the location but that was rare I'm sure.
So in short the McDonalds brothers had no financial interest in any of these properties anyway and were not in any way involved in the lease and would rarely even know who the owner was. So why care that Ray was going to be the owner? I guess they might have been mad they did not think of the idea themselves.
The film takes a brilliant and solid business venture that was to the benefit of all concerned and makes it seem like a selfish play by Ray Kroc. No it was one of the greatest business moves of alltime!
