I'm gonna take a guess you are under 30. I just have a feeling you are, or you are about 32 maybe.

It's been so long I forgot who I was responding too. Well , anyway I liked this movie and I rarely eat at McDonalds but I will tell you when I do, that BIG MAC and the Filet O' Fish is pretty damn good.

It's hardly an advertisement for McDonald's. If anything, it would turn people AWAY from the restaurant based off Ray Kroc's unethical conduct (and I've not seen any reports indicating that the director or screenwriter misrepresented Kroc. A lot are stating it's very historically accurate)

Plus, there's a textbook storyline to McDonald's founding: you have a nice assortment of characters, conflict, twists/surprises, etc.

That is what made the movie interesting and entertaining. How boring it would have been if things ran smoothly, I guess that could be said about most movies. I will say one thing, It may not be an advertisement for McDonalds, but I have had a craving for a BIG MAC ever since I saw the movie.

reply

Exactly. I'd venture to guess there's a lot of drama with any major business's founding (or at least when they launch expansion efforts), hence it can make for a solid film.

In regards to Big Macs, I've never been a fan of McDonald's burgers only because I HATE onions and those little ones in their meat annoy me (but I love their chicken nuggets and fries). Nonetheless, we all have various views so enjoy those Big Macs 

I want you to go out and try a BIG MAC and then report back. They now have a smaller version.

I've just watched this movie and it definitely wasn't an advertisement! It covers the early days of the company and I think they've change a lot from the days Mac and Dick only sold hamburgers, fries and milkshakes. The growth of the company was also not shown in a particularly positive light with powdered milkshakes rather than the real thing!

reply

Didn't you ever wonder why they call them "Thick Shakes" and not "Milk Shakes"?

reply

Me, definetly. I was in the restaurant biz, even having founded a small chain once. I read Kroc's autobiograpy a few decades ago.
The movie was very good, not as good nor comprehensive as the book, but overall excellent
I've seen and have the film. McDonald's is the best and my favorite.

reply

I am sure this movie is the farthest thing MacDonald's would want out there.

I thought it was fascinating, myself. I really like anything with Michael Keaton in it. And throw in Linda Cardellina, how can you go wrong!

reply

OP, have you actually seen the movie. It is most decidedly NOT "a 2 hour advert for McDonald's."

Once you see all the cutthroat business dealings, you might not want to eat at McDonald's ever again!
