Hell House LLC actually does fit one of the usual FF sub-genres, but not the one the OP claims. It's not a "screaming teenagers on a lark" movie. It's a modified version of a "fake ghost-hunters encounter real ghosts" movie. The granddaddy of this category is Grave Encounters, a move every FF enthusiast should have seen already. If not, go watch it! It's great!
Hell House is not quite GE-level good, but it's very creepy and atmospheric. I thought the acting was fine and natural. I didn't hear any stilted delivery and very little overacting, so I'm not sure what the complaining is about there. The same applies to the language. I didn't notice an unusual number of F-bombs for the genre, or indeed for any movie about young adults in a tough situation that isn't a family-oriented film.
If you like found-footage horror, HH is well worth seeing. If you don't, don't watch it.
