Great found footage film with one major problem

No idea why people who don't like found footage to start off with, then go watch it and *shockingly* don't like it. I'll watch any found footage horror. Favorite sub-genre. I'd give this a solid 8 on a scale of 1-Blair Witch. It's about a step or 2 below Houses October Built. The one complaint I have is the awful quality of the uploaded youtube video that plays an intergral role in the film. The quality made it hard to even make out what happened. What were they all running from that was so bad they were certain wasn't a part of the show?

looked like some sort of demon in a black robe. You see it very briefly. My guess is that they started running when he started actually killing people and they realized it wasn't fake.

I'm going to have to go back and rewatch it again. I didn't catch that black robe for some reason. Like the OP, I was unsure of what was happening. Must check it out again soon.

when they are in the basement going down, for a split second the screen freezes on a frame of a demonic face, it happens really quickly

Will definitely be looking for that soon. Damn this movie is creepy!

If anyone out there can do screen shots/captures and post this it would be appreciated.

Also, there's an easter egg at the end when Diane is walking though the hotel on her way to 2C. We see Alex for a quick second standing in the corner watching her and the camera man.

Thank you for that link! Ewwww! So *beep* creepy!

Oh, that was Alex? I thought it was Paul. Paul was one who was possessed, along with Sarah. I thought the implication was that everyone in the attic - Alex, Mac and, I think, Tony - were killed by the demon-people. Well, except Alex, who hanged himself like the original owner ... which I guess means it could have been Alex standing in the corner after all.

Earlier on, when the tour group is going through the dining room, did you see Paul sort of behind a door, just watching them? There are quite a few places where we get just a flash of something; I like that gimmick in FF.

reply

Maybe it was Paul... I have to look again. It looked like Alex to me. Seemed to be wearing what he wore the night he died.
I saw that shot with Paul and it made me think that he was going to be responsible for the carnage in the basement but that turned out to be the cloaked figures.

The haunted house crew had heard the rumors about the former owner supposedly being a Satanist. Because of the creepy stuff they had found in the basement, they didn't need to decorate it. And because of the supposed lore, they figured it would be the perfect place to stage a mock display of a virgin up for sacrifice. Little did they know that those were not rumors and they enticed the spirits to come back. So it was either the ghost of one of the cult members, or that one possessed crew dude in a robe. The half nekkid girl was screaming that it was not part of the show. The slow local actor guy playing the clown/bouncer bailed on her, allowing the robed guy to murder the chained-up hottie. Hence the panic.

Let's see who takes the bait.

The youtube vid you see at the beginning is very unclear as to what's happening. The recovered footage you see at the end is much more explanatory. The half-naked girl is screaming "this isn't part of the show" while a robed figure is menacing her and then appears to attack her. We don't see her final fate - although we can guess - but we do clearly see several robed figures attack the crew in the attic. This is in the scene where Alex hangs himself. It's one of the film's key reveals.

Hell House, LLC rewards a second viewing. If you do watch again, I think you'll find it's all pretty clear.

I generally don't like found footage, but I give each release a chance.

And *shockingly* this was awesome

A top 10 found footage film for sure. Maybe even top 3.
