The eggs looke dfishy but if you google Culex mosquito egg raft. they are the same as in the film.

Probably genetically mutated by the nuclear waste or chemicals dumped in the rainforest - what isnt contaminated now - even the sea is full of micro plastic infecting the fish and changing their DNA or lead , cadmium and mercury!

Really gross out movie could have been much better if the script and characterization was better but if you are looking for total gross out on
the old special effects then it will be right up your street but if you are
looking for scares and a good story try "The RUINS" - Now it was a really good body-morph horror.
