You needed to watch a movie to figure that out? i can watch the news any-day of the week and discover that they are STILL dumb Mfers.....in fact one of the reasons i watch movies is to try to forget that fact!

This took place a bit longer than two centuries ago. Two centuries ago would've placed you in the early 1800s, and this film took place in the early days of colonial America, around the late 1600s or early 1700s.

around the late 1600s or early 1700s.

No, it was set in 1630. Not the late 1600s/early 1700s.

Politically left or right, religious or non-religious people are still letting their ideology and dogma lead them down the path of violence, hatred and insanity.

I thought this too, and then sadly realized that plenty of people this stupid still exist today. At least back then they had good excuses, like lack of education, education that itself was lacking, and fear of being put to death. It's insane.

Take a look around you. People are still dumb.
