Screw the Cleveland police, they are equally at fault as the kidnapper.

For years, several neighbors overhead the screaming of the victims while working outside, and called the Cleveland police, yet the police promptly ignored it or too lazy to respond to such calls, assuming that such thing was not a big deal. Hell, Cleveland authorities assumed that the 20-year-old Knight had run away of her own volition. While Knight’s mother says she always suspected something had happened to her daughter, the police disagreed. Knight does not appear to have been listed in Ohio’s missing persons database, or in the national NamUs missing persons database, which is one of the reason why they didn't devote as much resources to look for him.

Also, what infuriates me that this kidnapping took place somewhat in the War on Terror, and despite the Patriot Act and the NSA mass surveillance, DNA, and improved investigation, the women were HELD in the same house for 10 freaking years, something that was famously done in the 1940s or 1960s. So not only the kidnapping the fault of Ariela Castro, but also the failure by the Cleveland Police to adequately investigate. I guess the Cleveland police rather spend time shooting innocent people then get away with it rather than helping the true victims, and then hide their actions when something went terribly wrong with their procedures.

In total agreement.

If you lived in Cleveland you would know that the Cleveland FBI office and police never stopped looking for Amanda and Gina. Michelle was an adult when she disappeared, was known to have run away and lived on the streets for some time, and therefore was not as much of a priority. When Cleveland Police got a tip from a guy who said he knew where Amanda's body was buried, they dug up an entire with an FBI forensics team on hand (it happened about a year before they were found.)

Joshua 1:9 ... unashamed.

Thanks for the information. That's good to know about them doing their job. I get that some things were looked over, but to continually look and go off tips for 10 years shows they weren't forgotten.

I agree that they are both equally to blame. While they never stopped looking for Amanda and Gina I will say they dropped the ball with Michelle. She should have been kept in that missing database I don't care that she had a history of running away. Castro, that SOB knew no one was looking for her or loved her and used that to his advantage.
