Could have been a lot better

I read Michelle Knight's book and its one of the best books you will ever read. But the TV movie fails miserably. You never get a sense of Michelle's personal struggle and due to censorship graphic details have been left out. It was so different from the book that I couldn't finish watching it. I didn't care for the actress who portrayed Michelle and the actor they chose for Castro wasn't believable enough.

Read the book if you haven't already. It's gripping.

Horrible and sad for all 3 girls, but I just cried for Michelle while talking to the detective about her son.....the way Ariel treated her because her family didn't care was so heart wrenching!!

I think for a Lifetime movie it was graphic enough. It would have to be NC-17 if they really wanted to show what it was like. But I'd rather not see it. I get the idea from this movie.

Can you list some graphic parts from the book that didn't make it in the film!

You seem too eager to be entertained by this horrific story. What kind of sick weirdo actually wants to see all that acted out? Actually disappointed it wasn't graphic? It's on Lifetime, kind of dumb you even expected it

I felt they edited it too much; but when we were shooting it last December, rumor has it that Lifetime was one of the potential markets of distribution. But it was filmed in a way that it could have been adapted for major motion picture release and also for DVD release. But I don't know for sure if Lifetime produced it or it was an independent production. Since casting companies contract with producers, the actors are paid by the casting company. So unless the film had been picked up by a network or motion picture distributor at that time we weren't informed.
