Have you ever had an experience where you thought you may be taken

I've had two

Once I was walking my puppy and a guy was following me and would duck around corners when I looked. I went to a house and asked for help.

Another time a van pulled up to me in an isolated park of a parking lot and asked me if I wanted to buy candy. I screamed and set off the car alarm and they sped away.

reply

Twice for me to, i was about 7 and a car pulled up to me and my friend and asked us if we wanted a lipstick, we screamed no and ran and the car sped up towards us and we got away.
When i was 19 i ran out of gas far from home and a car with 3 guys offered to help and they seemed harmless and they offered me a ride, at the very same moment out of no where it seemed,,an older lady and her grand daughter about my age pulled up to us and asked me if i was ok and if i needed a ride, i swear a voice in my head told me to go with her and the look she gave me was like let me help you. She told me i should never get in cars with strange men. I know that lady saved my life

reply

I am so glad you did not go with those men! *Hugs*

reply

Thank you

reply

Yea because men are evil and will always kill you?

Pathetic.

Do you realize how many killers have used their children etc to *lure* victims because you *assume* they are safer option?

reply

Someone was sending you an angel to save your life IMO

i was walking up to the bus stop once and i heard twigs snap behind me, i was so startled it turned out that the guy was going the same direction i was. He did apologize for startling me.

Another time i was solicited for prostitution near a gas station...! 

Lol what? Your story is so hypocritical, coming from a woman. You shouldn't get in cars with strangers period

I had one. I was at a friends house and when I went to leave my car wouldn't start. Her boyfriend gave me a jump but it still didn't work. It was almost midnight so she said I could leave my car and have it towed to a repair shop in the morning and she asked her boyfriend to drive me home.

He knew where I lived and took off towards my house but then turned to go in the opposite direction. I assumed he made a mistake and told him and he just smiled and said "I know". I was becoming afraid because he just kept driving and wasn't talking or anything. I asked him to stop kidding around and bring me home. I told him I was becoming afraid and he smiled and said "I know".

This was way back, before cell phones and I didn't know what to do. I demanded he turn around and bring me home, told him I was going to tell his girlfriend, etc. He turned around and headed back towards my house. I was relieved. He got to my house and instead of stopping drove right by, and started smirking that creepy smirk again. He came to ta light at the end of my street and was stuck behind another car so he had to stop. I got out and ran home (luckily I was only a minute away).

Come to think of it I should have posted this in the creepy story thread on the Vacancy board too.

We were all lucky, I am glad nothing happened to us. I feel so badly for the others that weren't as fortunate.

Good thread idea, OP!

Oh my God... scary stories everyone. I wonder how many people have experienced these frightening close-calls.

My mother has said I almost was abducted before I was two years old. I don't remember it, of course, but I was playing in my parent's driveway, my mother was right there, on the back porch. The way the house was, someone from the street could not see anyone on the back porch. It was on the side of the house, toward the back, but it was an add-on, so the main, front part of the house jetted out, concealing it.

From my mother's view, she could see someone come up the long driveway once they were halfway up it. Someone was approaching me, and it all happened so fast, that as my mom was reacting, he knew I was with an adult, and he ran as fast as he could to a car parked on the side of the street. My mother was able to see it was a silver Camaro. She couldn't get the license plate, and was more concerned with me of course.

She reported it--her brother was a sergeant on the police force then--since there was no actual crime, it wasn't like they were apprehended (at least as far as my mother knows).

What was scary is three years before I was born, a boy was abducted in this very neighborhood. It was not a family member abduction; it was stranger/child abduction (which are actually quite rare). The little boy was never seen again.

My younger sister had a close call at age five in a park when she was with my mom (and the sick *beep* yet again didn't know my mom was right there watching). My mother also had a close call when she was nine in a mall. She smartly ran to an elderly couple who witnessed the scary guy bolt out of the mall after he had chased my mother. They stayed with her until my grandparents met up with her again. The mall was like a tomb inside, so the *beep* probably thought it'd be easy access.

I can't believe how many of these "near misses" have happened to us.

*I forgot to add another man was in the silver Camaro when I was almost taken. My mother could see a driver when the one who came up the driveway ran back into the car. (I always try to think maybe it was sickos looking to abduct children for a black market baby-selling ring. As horrible as that is, I don't want to think these two were pedophiles. I hope to God they never hurt a child in any way. Same with my mother's and my sister's close-calls.)

Once, when I was 12. I had a 2 1/2 mile walk home from middle school, which took me out of the city and through a partially constructed housing development before getting to the mobile home court my dad and I lived in. It was one of the few times I wasn't walking with friends who also lived over there; I think I had stayed late for something. Anyway I had passed the constructed part of the housing development and was walking past empty lots when a white bronco pulled up to an intersection about two lots down, straight in front of my path, and just sat there. I didn't think anything of it at first but when I got another lot closer I noticed there were two older guys ("older" from my 12yo perspective, probably mid to late 20's) in the front and both were looking directly at me.

I still remember in that instant the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. I paused and pretended my shoe had come untied, so I dropped my bag and knelt down to fiddle with the laces. They still didn't leave, and a glance showed they were still staring at me while talking to each other, so I began rifling through my backpack as if I were searching for something. I was sweating by then though it was a cool day, I didn't know what to do, as I was several lots down from the completed and occupied houses. But a minute later tires squealed and they drove off, about the same time as a few other cars passed by from the residential area. I sped-walked the rest of the way home, never took that route again (though it was shortest), and always made sure I either had a ride or was walking with someone after that.

I was almost abducted when I was little, someone tried taking me out of a store. They had me but luckily my mom saw them and stopped it. My mom was always a nervous wreck after that and never really let me do anything, she still is and I'm almost 30.

When I was like 10, I used to play in my cousins apartment building, this old man had the apartment on the end by the stairway. He used to always come outside his apartment and beckon for me to come inside. I used to go through lengths not to pass by his front door. He had lust in his eyes.

Again when I was 10, I got my finger smashed in a steel door. I was in the hospital for a week because I have severe anemia and lost an enormous amount of blood. My doctor who was very young and quite attractive, used to come sit with me and make these plans to take me with him for ice cream and stuff. He had this whole plan of how he was going to get me out of the hospital one Saturday and we were going to spend the whole day together. He told me that it would be our secret. I actually liked him and trusted him and wanted to go. At any rate, I was released before that Saturday came. But it wasn't until years later when I was older that I realized that was really weird. We tend to think that professional handsome people can't be capable of bad things but who knows what would have happened had I went.

Last story, one time when I was about 18 and was going to work, this car pulled up and the guy asked me for directions in a low voice. I asked him to repeat himself and he spoke in a low voice again. I stepped a little towards his car and saw him masturbating. I begin to back away and he just begged me to stand there. He kept saying I won't hurt you. ..i just want to look at you please. But I begin to run and he zoomed away.

Happened to me a lot when I was young and pretty. I used to be car-less and walked everywhere, sometimes even hitchhiked...Ugh. Thank the higher power I always got away....and eventually got a vehicle.

I was the opposite, I was a wild child and actually was asking for trouble unknowingly. Like there was one time a friend and I were stuck at the beach with no way of getting home because buses weren't running that late, we were 13, and didn't want our parents knowing we stayed so late, so we saw some random man outside getting ready to hop in his car and we openly asked him if we could get a ride, which is a really dangerous thing to do. And he was so kind, he said yes. Luckily, he drove us both home with no problems.

Another time a friend and I were at the park just around the corner of our houses, we were only 7, and we saw this teenage boy sitting on a swing and we asked him if he could take us to 7-11 to buy candy. He said yes, but thank god he said "lets go ask your parents first". Both parents said no...

But there was one time I will never forget, when I was riding my bike alone in an alley around 9 years old, and there was a car chase behind me, I managed to get to my backyard gate but my bike got stuck in the door, the cars all crashed into a park just a few feet behind me, police cars were there. A man ran out of his car and somehow escaped into my backyard and I remember hearing police screaming "get that kid inside!" I was terrified he'd take me, but my dad ran outside and grabbed me. Later we heard on the news that they had robbed some houses in the area. Scary!!

I was walking to the store from my dad's house it was pretty late at night, this car stopped and asked me how old I was, I was 16 but I lied and said 12, I thought it drove off but I walked in the store, came back out, started walking back down the street and it was following me. It was so creepy because no one was on the street so I screamed and started running and the car sped off the other day and I never walked anywhere by myself again.
