Michelle being strung up in the air? why did they make it like that?

I just got done reading Michelle`s book yesterday and today I am watching the movie. I noticed in the begging Ariel strung Michelle up by her arms and legs and had her in the air.
But in the book Michelle said Ariel tied her arms to two poles.
Why is it that the movie made that scene so harsh?

She was on Dr. Phil's show last year and she described what they showed in the movie.

True - but Michelle Knight described the scene on several talk shows, as being tied up and hanging "like a fish" in the basement w/a motorcycle helmet, and then to a pole w/a buck for her to use as a bathroom, as that's where Castro had his whole setup. She actually wasn't moved to the room upstairs until she had been there for awhile.

However, this is Hollywood, where they are trying to pack Michelle's 11 year ordeal into a 2-hour
Life Time TV Movie, as such, some EVENTS are changed or combined for "creative" impact.

The first scene in the movie, starts out with a quick long shot of Michelle hanging "like a fish", and then the next scene goes into her background story with her family and meeting Castro. After, Castro abducts Michelle, ties her up and ejaculates on her (she isn't raped until later on), the Director in a full 360 degrees editing, returns back to the long shot of Michelle hanging "like a fish" and then the "Cleveland Abduction" begins.

You obviously didn't read closely, comprehend what you read, or retain any of it.
