I'm not excusing what he did. But, this may be why he did this awful crime.

His abusers are not the ones to blame. He is 100% responsible for his actions.

There was a horrific case just five years ago where a mother abused and ended up killing her 15-year-old daughter. The girl's mother had been a victim of abuse herself.(one of the tactics that was used to hurt her and her brother was that they were routinely starved, but allowed to have water that was it.)

I know a few people who were abused as children and none of them turned into sickos.

Yeah, a childhood friend stuck his fingers up Castro's behind for a few years. Not that that wasn't horrible, but it is certainly no excuse for kidnapping three girls and holding them hostage for ten years. There really is no excuse for his actions, other than he was a selfish, egotistical, sadistic bastard.
