The last episode should have been extended a bit, maybe another 20 minutes. Things and the wrapup from the fallout of the thing seemed a bit rushed, but otherwise, I enjoyed this show. And they had a veritable banquet of hot women of all races - Colleen Wing (probably my favorite), Karen Page, Electric Nachos, Claire, and even though she's a bit long in the tooth, the cop lady Misty.
After rewatching it though, to my mind a few things could have been improved upon. Danny, for one thing, still comes off as a bit of a joke... only this time even other characters insult him (obviously, the writers of the Defenders took notice of the backlash Iron Fist received). Weaver’s hyped up villain also went kinda nowhere but her exit from the show was very unexpected, so in a way I appreciate how she was handled. And I admit, the show at times does feel rushed and yet less uneventful than it should be.
But all in all, I thought this show delivered. The fight scenes are fantastic and all the moments the Defenders share are wonderfully executed. The direction is solid, too. However, if I’m being honest, I consider Daredevil - and Matt’s scenes with Jessica Jones - the show’s hilights. I have a bias for Colleen Wing as well, so I loved all of her scenes.
Actually, Defenders was written before Iron Fist was even filmed and by the time Defenders finished filming, Iron Fist was just coming out. There was no way for the writers to have reacted to fans.
But that’s funny because from my perspective it did feel as if they poked fun at Danny being the almighty Iron Fist as a result of his show’s reception. Guess not...
Don’t get me wrong, at first I did like Danny better than others, particularly in The Defenders. But now I am beginning to see why he’s disliked by so many. Either way I’m willing to give him a chance.
It was always supposed to be a miniseries. Since the show runners had a hard time making this show due to all the schedules, I don't think they were ever going to do another one. Of course, now that Iron Fist and Luke Cage don't have shows of their own, they could easily make a second miniseries with the characters from those series
