Punisher

Not a team player.

They'll integrate him somehow into the cast. Defenders was pitched way before they considered doing a Punisher series.

Because as cool as it would be to have him on the show, he's not a necessary addition. I'm kidding, his presence would make this even more epic.

Because the original lineup was decided years ago.

Besides, each of the 4 current Defenders will have well developed character arcs and independent themes from their own series before the Defenders. The Punisher's story so far has only been developed in tandem with Daredevil's, so there wouldn't be balance among the group. Maybe they can add for the next season of Defenders if they do one though.

I am surprised there are so many people who want Punisher on this team. It is 100% against his character. Not to mention, the Defenders we have seen so far would never allow him on the team. The Punisher is awesome, but I don't want the creators to throw him in just to throw him in and risk him being out-of-character.
