Do I need to watch Jessica Jones and Luke Cage???

As per the title.

Do I need to watch Jessica Jones and Luke Cage before I watch the defenders?

Are any story elements in these two series crossing over into Daredevil or Iron Fist?

Let me be honest.

I watched Jessica Jones and I stopped watching half way through episode 1, I really didn't like it.

I am not a SJW, not progressive and I honestly couldn't careless about black people's problems. I have my own issues to worry about. So I have no interest in watching Luke Cage.

I am pumped about Iron Fist though and will be watching that come March, along with Daredevil Season 3 and the new series of The Punisher!

Thanks for the answers! 😄

I guess you don't have to, but I can't say since defenders isn't out yet so I don't know about plot details. I want to say yes because you didn't really need to see any other marvel films before avengers.

A Black man with a White woman?

I am not a SJW

Neither am I but I'm not a weak insecure male either.

I have my own issues

That's abundantly clear!

Danny might nail an Asian chick yeah!

It's probably best you skip the defenders. Luke Cage will be in it and they will likely make him look fantastic. Him and Jessica might even have sex again 😨

The OP never claimed he had a problem with mixed couples.

I know right. I like how some people are so insecure and they read stuff that just isn' there!

Well they clearly have some issues. Anyone who can't tell that from their post is in the same boat.

Let me make it clear because you are some sort of liberal idiot.

A Black man with a White woman?

I love black women. Check my history. Once of twice I have commented on gorgeous black actresses.

I read that Jesscia Jones is about certain issues like PTSD and I have read reviews of other members in this forum and other forums. Some are in love with it, some really hate it. If it's not a total knock out, I'm not going to waste 10+ hours on something I'm not going to like just for the sake of it.

P.S, I've dated black women too.

And about Luke Cage, I've read everywhere. It's about social commentary and social issues wrt black people. Again, I'm not too bothered about this and I'm going to skip it.

Does that make me racist/sexist because I'm not going to not watch something I'm not interested about? I suppose in Hillary's 2017 world. Most probably. But hey, I could care less LOL.

So have I and so have a lot of other people. I never said I had a problem with it.

So are you American? Why are you putting your own issues onto other people?

I've travelled all over the world. Oh guess what. When you have spent time in other countries and cultures, you usually meet women that aren't your race. You get to know them and then fall in love with them and the usual then happens. It also broaden your minds and you get to see how other people and cultures live when you meet family members and make new friends.

That's why, I am not bothered about certain cultures. Been there, done that. Some things will NEVER change. Why? Because the populous don't want it too!

Neither am I but I'm not a weak insecure male either.

How am I a weak insecure male? You realise that I am married also? I share a bed with a woman every night. What may shock you as well, is that this woman isn't white either. I'm not going to tell you her race, but hopefully you head explodes at the thought.

Oh and just 1 more thing. You ever heard the phrase. White people's problems? It's frequently said by non-white folks. Are they racist for not caring about them? Definitely, according to your dumb ass!

I think you should watch them. You don't HAVE too. But I mean, Defenders isnt coming out until 2017 so, why not.

Yeah Jessica Jones is kinda slow, but that's because it's more of like an old Black and White Detective movie (since she is a PI). Plus there are some things that will help you understand certain things and characters better.

The same thing can be said for Luke Cage. However, unlike JJ, Luke Cage is not as slow. And has way more action. As for the "black problems" they are tackled as about as they tackled rape in Jessica Jones. They aren't blatantly stated, but they are acknowledged. The whole concept of a black man in a hoodie is bulletproof. But other than that, the show does have an actual villan who is just as good as (imo better than) Kingpin.

So, you don't NEED to watch the show, but still, watch it.

I would have to say watch it. I too were not too fond of both shows in the beginning. It did not grab me like daredevil did, but the stories flesh out and get more interesting as it progresses. Plus what's the harm in knowing more about the characters you are going to see constantly in this next show?
