What's with Elektra and the Hand?

I can't wait for Defenders. That group picture got my hyped! And just having finished LC didn't help either.

I am wondering, though, if Sigourney Weaver is playing the villain, the what's with Elektra and all that mysterious resurrection stuff in DD Season 2? I am a non-cbm reader and I have been completely lost on what the Hand were actually doing with that blood and then the ending shot with Elektra? i thought they will brainwash her and she will be the main villain for the Defenders to fight against.

Can someone explain a bit more, please?

I don't think we'll see the resurrected Elektra and the Hand again till season 3 of Daredevil.

The trailer had Stick asking the main 4 if they really thought they stood a chance against the Hand or something like that.
Season 3 of DD will hopefully be all Kingpin.
