I Don't Care For It

I made some generally negative remarks about Werewolves (2024), but I actually kinda enjoyed it. This one is a far better made film, with good performances and a great look. It also has a good idea in it's depiction of the enhanced senses of the wolf man... But that's it. It has almost no story and felt boring to me, waiting for it to grind to the inevitable conclusion.

There have been a lot of werewolf movies and it really looks like these folks just didn't want to make another one. Congratulations to them on that. They didn't make one of those. Unfortunately, they didn't make anything of much value.

Agreed. Watching this now. The family basically does nothing they are asked and stand around and stare at him in long drawn out scenes where nothing happens. Loud sounds and growling for no reason. He turns on the sink and the water running sounds like a pit bull fight. I enjoyed the invisible man a lot. But this thing was a jumbled waste of time.

The sound and vision effects to depict enhanced senses were mostly good. What annoyed me was when loud thumping sounds are revealed to be a tiny spider upstairs. That is just silly. But the rest? Fine. And the wolf-man-vision is great. I am so tired of things like the creature vision in Wolfen or even Predator, that universally seems less clear and detailed than ordinary human vision.

reply

Agreed. The spider thumping was just lame. And went way too long.

A little part of me died inside when it was revealed that Julia Garner would play the Silver Surfer in the new F4 movie and I don't understand why they just didn't stick to the basic formula of the WOLFMAN: He was stricken with a Curse along with the Gypsy angle and at this point, I feel like the 2010 movie of the same name was far better and it too was torn apart by critics

Well, it's hard to see either this movie or The Invisible Man as relating to the old Universal properties. That last, 2010, Wolfman, wasn't great, but I can see how they might have intended to tie it into a revived series of Universal monster movies.

This one is just another take on the werewolf. Nothing special, just not good enough for me to recommend.

I just purchased The WOLFMAN 2010 on Blu Ray awhile ago but 1st, I'm going to watch JOYRIDE. A Guilty pleasure and probably a modern day "DUEL" from 1971
